Senate has ordered the Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to enhance Senator Cleophas Malala's security after the Kakamega representative claiming that his life is in danger.

Senator Malala broke down in the Senate, saying that he has been receiving death threats in the recent past.

"I am a young father and husband. I am also a representative of the people of Kakamega. I am said this time and again that my life is in danger. I have written enough letters. Nobody is willing to give me security," said the MP as he appeared before the Senate's National Security Committee on Monday.

Malala said that he has pleaded with the Kakamega County Commissioner to enhance his security detail to no avail.

"It is sad to walk in the streets of Kakamega knowing I could be dead the next day," said the vocal senator.

Further, Malala said one of the country's top leaders accused him of stage-managing his arrest.
