Police in Makueni have launched investigations into two different deaths of a 35-year-old man from Mumoni village in Mutito Sub-location and another 40-year-old man from Itetani sub location, who were found dead on Sunday evening in separate circumstances.

In the first case, Felix Munyao Kisilu 35, was found lying lifeless at the entrance of his shop at Kikima market with physical injuries on the throat and the head suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp knife.

According to Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Napeiyan, the report was made by the deceased's cousin Jeremiah Mbithi Ngewa,55, who allegedly had gone to the shop for a visit at around 5pm on Sunday.

“One Felix Munyao who is a cousin to the deceased, visited the scene where upon arrival at the shop, he encountered a body lying in a pool of blood at the shop's entrance,” Naipeyan said.

Police who went to inspect the scene found the body with physical injuries on the throat and the head suspected to have been wreaked by a sharp object.

Investigative officers also recovered a sharp kitchen knife full of blood stains at the scene of crime suspected to have been used in killing the businessman.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Napeiyan said the matter is under investigation as police seek to determine the motive of the murder while searching for the culprits.

“The scene of crime was processed and documented although the intention and motive of the killers is not yet known. We have launched the process of finding out the killers,” Napeiyan added.

Police said nothing seemed to have been stolen from the shop because all the stock including bales of maize floor, drinks, cooking gas, among other items was intact. The body was moved to Mbooni sub county mortuary awaiting autopsy.

In the second incident, an unknown man, aged around 40 years was on Sunday evening found dead in a bush with visible injuries on both hands, broken right thigh and blood oozing from the nose in Itetani sub-location.

According to Napeiyan, the report was made by one James Wambua Mutungi aged 18 that at around a quarter past 5pm while grazing herds of cattle within Iting'ola seasonal stream, Itetani sub location he found a dead body of unknown male adult in the bush.

The body had visible injuries on both hands, broken right thigh and blood oozing from the nose.

“The cause of death not yet established. It appears that it happened about three or so days ago. The scene was photographed and the body moved to Mbooni West Sub County mortuary pending identification and post-mortem, progress report to follow and the case,” the police commander said in a statement.
