Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has directed schools to ferry learners to their homes or nearest designated drop-off points in wake of the cancellation of learning countrywide over coronavirus fears.
In the statement to newsrooms, Education CS Magoha ordered schools without buses to allow NTSA licensed transport providers to pick learners subject to three conditions.
"The vehicles should be cleaned, sanitized and inspected by the head of the institution before boarding.

"The vehicles must not carry any other passengers en route and should take the learners to their homes or nearest designated drop-off points which must be within proximate distance to their homes where parents should be notified to receive them," said Prof Magoha.
Further, National Government Administration Officers have been tasked with ensuring that no single student is found unattended in bus stations.
The Education ministry also asked students to keep a record of all people they interact with on their way home.
On Sunday, President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed that coronavirus cases in Kenya had increased to three and suspended schools in a bid to reduce the risk of contagion.
President Kenyatta said all day primary and secondary schools would be the first to close down on Monday with the deadline for other learning facilities set for Friday, March 20.
The Head of State also halted the entry of foreigners from countries that have confirmed coronavirus cases.
“Only Kenyan citizens and any foreigners with valid residence permits will be allowed to come in provided they proceed on self-quarantine or to a government designated quarantine facility,” Mr. Kenyatta said in a televised press briefing.
“All persons who have come into Kenya in the last 14 days must self-quarantine.”
