Students from Amani Primary school in Endebess Constituency, Trans Nzoia County are counting losses
after heavy rains accompanied by strong winds destroyed two classrooms.
Confirming the incident, John Obanda, the school headteacher noted that learning activities may not resume for sometime due to the damage caused by the calamity.
While expressing optimism that the tragedy did not occur during learning periods, Obanda called on the relevant authorities and well-wishers to lend a helping hand to restore the damaged properties.
"We're now worried about where to host them once they come back on Monday. We ask the government and other people of goodwill to step up and help us fix the problem" he stated.
Costs
According to Obanda, the renovation of the damaged property will cost approximately Ksh3million.
So far, a team has been dispatched to the scene to assess the magnitude of the damage.
The school established in 2013 hosts children of Internally displaced people IDPs who were evicted from their farms in Njoro, Nakuru County after the 2007/08 post-election violence.
