Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come out to weigh in on the highly contested matter regarding the credibility of Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi's academic papers.

The senator had defended Sudi against allegations that he forged his academic papers so that he could seek an electoral seat. Cherargei noted that the leadership skills of an individual are provided by God and have nothing to do with his academic qualification.

Cherargei further claimed that the tribulation Sudi is currently undergoing is a political witchhunt propagated by his political rivals.

"Leadership is about God's calling not about academic qualifications. Hon. Oscar Sudi, MP Kapseret, is a victim of political machinations and political witch hunts. The voters know him better than these busybodies," the senator said.

The authenticity of Sudi's academic papers come after Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) principal examination secretary Nabiki Ene Kashu told an anti-corruption court that MP Sudi's certificates were fake and forged.

“We went through the KNEC archive records and established that Oscar Kipchumba Sudi did not appear in the year 2006 KNEC database for either Parklands Secondary School or Highway Secondary,” Nabiki told the court.

“Using the index number and the name of the candidate, we established that the code of the Highway Secondary school in the accused certificate did not belong to the school but Parklands School,” she added.

On his part, Sudi has defended himself noting that his certificates are genuine. He said that he is ready to submit witnesses to defend his case.
