A section of Ukambani leaders have told off deputy president Rigathi Gachagua over constant 'attacks' on Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking at Kaiani ABC church in Kathiani constituency, the leaders led by Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti noted that the community will not tolerate the DP's constant attacks on Kalonzo whenever he visits the region.
She also asked that the DP to respect Kalonzo whenever he tours his Ukambani backyard and noted that the community was rallying behind the wiper leader in the 2027 election.
"Sisi hatufurahi, we are not happy when somebody comes here more than thirty minutes the person you are speaking about is Kalonzo. Tuliwekwa kwa mazishi more than thrity, forty-five minutes ilkua kuongelea maneno ya mtu mmoja. Mwambieni huyu pia ni mtoto wetu na mtu akija huku ampatie heshima," Ndeti stated.
Ndeti's remarks were echoed by Kathiani Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Mbui who demanded that the wiper leader be accorded the respect he deserves.
He also mentioned that regardless of who is visiting the region, the Kamba people deserve to be respected.
"Ukikuja ukambani patia wakamba heshima, usitukane Kalonzo kwa sababu akianza kuongea Kalonzo…akiendelea Kalonzo…sisi tunasema this is our father, if you don't respect him we will not respect you," the MP said.
DP Gachagua has constantly been on Kalonzo's radar whenever he visits the Kamba region.
Recently, the DP claimed that the Wiper Party leader had been sidelined by the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition only to be 'used' later as the coalition's delegation leader at the bipartisan talks.
The former Mathira MP went on to claim that Kalonzo will be left out once again with no benefits like he was during the 2018 handshake.
“These talks being led by Kalonzo, there is nothing to wait from there. 2018 Raila aliendea handshake na Uhuru, hakuambia Kalonzo…hakuenda nayeye. Akaenda akatengeneza deal yake na Uhuru wakamalizana.
"Projects zote alitoa kwa Uhuru akapeleka kwao. Kuna project alileta huku? Lakini nyinyi ata baada ya kufanyia nyinyi hivo, mkamtafuta mkaanguka nayeye," Gachagua said.
