Leaders mourn fallen MP Suleiman Dori, burial set for today

Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori who died at the Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa will be buried on Monday at 4 pm, his family says.

The burial is in accordance with Muslim customs. The MP, 43, succumbed to stomach cancer at the hospital's intensive care unit.

Several leaders among them Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga led Kenyans in mourning the fallen MP.

“He was hardworking, focused, and fearless, with an inextinguishable love for everyone. Mheshimiwa Dori was indomitable, a moral enthusiast whose leadership advocated for equal justice,” DP Ruto tweeted.

Raila and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho said they had lost an important ally.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the people of Msambweni and family of Ramadhani Suleiman Dori who has passed on this morning. May the Lord grant his family comfort at this difficult moment and may his soul Rest in eternal peace," said Raila.

Joho said that Dori had been a great friend and brother.

“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we mourn the passing on of a great friend and Brother Hon. Suleiman Dori the MP of Msambweni,” Joho said on twitter.

Likoni MP Mishi Mboko said the demise of Dori is not only a blow to the family but also to the entire Coastal region.

"We are saddened by this death because this leader was so ambitious.We talked together last week at the parliament when he was asking me when to convene a meeting on our coast parliamentary proposals to the BBi,but it's so unfortunate that we have lost him," said Mboko.

Dori was born on October 19, 1977,and raised in his rural Gazi village, Msambweni Constituency.

He was the last born in a family of 11 children, three brothers and eight sisters.

Mr Dori leaves behind his wife, a daughter and a son.
