Muslim scholar and lawyer Professor Hassan Nandwa who went missing more than a week ago was found dumped about 200km from Nairobi.

Nandwa who was found around 1 am is alive and already reunited with the family in Mwingi.

Speaking to the press, Supreme Council of Muslims chairman Hassan Ole Nado said the lawyer was found in Mwingi yesterday night

“I have heard he has been found alive and reunited with his family but we are waiting for more information on this,” he said.

Nandwa is yet to explain what happened and it is not clear who abducted him

A spokesman for Jamia Mosque Abu Ayman said he spoke to Nandwa and his family stating: “He is in good health. I have spoken to him and he is ok with his family.”

Nandwa disappeared hours after he allegedly visited the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (APTU) head offices in Nairobi to receive his client Elgiva Bwire, a jailed terrorist who completed his jail term.

Bwire is yet to be found with the National Police Service requesting citizens with information in his disappearance or abduction to record a statement with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

“The National Police Service (NPS) will be interested in factual accusations if at all police are involved, we urge members of the public with information to file a formal complaint with the Internal Affairs Unit and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for action,” NPS spokesman Bruno Shioso said.

Police claimed Bwire promised he would stage a serious attack to release all terror suspects in custody. Police advise Kenyans to be alert.
