UDA's Nixon Korir has conceded early defeat to ODM's Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o in the Lang'ata parliamentary seat.

In a post on social media on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, the outgoing Lang'ata MP alluded that the chances of him clinching the seat were slim.

"To the people of Langata, I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. Its been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation building and service to the people. From the results that we've tallied at the Generali centre, my competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate his as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata," Korir wrote.

Jalang'o had a backup plan

Jalang’o had signed a deal with his former employer who was offering him a job if failed to clinch Lang'ata parliamentary seat.

The comedian-turned-politician officially resigned from his work at Kiss FM on February 9, 2022, in line with media council rules that require journalists vying for political seats to resign six months to the election date.

Unlike some candidates who will probably find it tough looking for jobs after losing in the August 9 polls, Jalang’o was assured of a soft landing.

The former Kiss FM presenter revealed that his employers at Radio Africa Group were reluctant to let him go. He said that they made him sign a contract that will keep his job if he fails in his quest to be Lang'ata MP.

“My boss has made me sign a contract that in case I do not win… I should not even apply for the job, I simply walk back and start working,” Jalang’o said in a past interview.
