The Kenya Union of Teachers (KNUT) has filed contempt of court application against Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for failing to implement court orders issued on July 12, 2019 by the high Court which barred the transfer of union officials beyond geographical limits of the branch they are elected to serve.

Knut, through lawyer Paul Muite, wants TSC cited for contempt saying the union officials whose transfer had been set aside by the court have not been transferred as per the order of geographical limits of representation.

Knut further accuses TSC of placing an advertisement in the dailies inviting application for suitable and qualified candidates to fill the position of head teacher and deputy head teacher contrary to the provisions of code of regulations for teachers.

“TSC has gone rogue, the union cannot operate without money. Their objective is to kill the teacher's union,” Muite said in court.
