Kiunjuri loses department as Uhuru reorganises ministries

President Uhuru Kenyatta has reorganised government ministries that has seen Agriculture Cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri lose a key docket.

In an Executive order, President Uhuru said the Irrigation State Department will be moved from the Agriculture to Water and Sanitation under CS Simon Chelugui.

According to the President, this is to enhance synergy within the Water sector, which is a key enabler for the implementation of the Big Four Agenda.

The Head of State also directed that Interior CS Fred Matiang’i takes over the Presidential Delivery Unit and the Directorate of National Cohesion and Values that were previously under the Executive Office of the President.

Matiang’i, will also be in charge of the newly formed State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services.

The new docket is a merger between the State Department for Interior and the State Department for Immigration & Citizen Services.
