Police in Kisumu are investigating how a thief dug through a wall of newly opened Shivling Supermarket and stole money and TV sets of unknown value on Tuesday night (May 19).

The retail store located in Kondele on the Kisumu-Kakamega Road shares a wall with Hotel City Park, where it is believed the thief booked himself into for the night, and embarked on drilling of the wall.

The hotel administration said one person checked in for the night, and was allocated a room that shares a partition with the supermarket.

Shivling staff members reported to work early Wednesday and noticed there was a hole in the wall.

The retailer’s administration declined to reveal to K24 Digital the amount of money lost, the number of TV sets stolen and their value.

As at the time of publishing this story, police were at the scene interrogating staff members of Shivling Supermarket and City Park Hotel.

The retail store is less than two months old in the area.
