He said the suspect lobbed tear gas canisters to customers who had come to access bank services with the majority being parents who were paying for their children school fees as they were returning to school from half-term break in order to scare them away.

"After some time, one of the suspects went to one of the tellers who was a lady with a note instructing her to give them sh100,000 stating that they were four people," he said.

He said that they have since launched investigations into the matter and that they are going to do a thorough search and if they find anybody guilty, they are going to take action.

He also said that they are going to get access to the CCTV camera with their multi-agency team to check the kind of people who were coming in the bank between 9:00 am to the time the incident occurred.

"We have also been able to find a shirt which was abandoned in the bank and we suspect that it is belonging to one of the suspects," he said.

He added that they suspect that if they find the owner of the shirt, he will be able to give them more information.
