A middle-aged man has been released on a bond of Ksh300,000 for robbing a woman Ksh1,100 by a Kisumu court.

Elias Odera, who appeared before Winam Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate R.M Wahanda on Tuesday, was charged with roberry with violence contrary to section 295 (2) of the penal code.

The court heard that on January 10, 2022 at Miwani, Makaburini area, Miwani Sub-county jointly with others not before the court armed with dangerous weapons robbed Damaris Atieno Ksh1,100.

According to the charge sheet, he was arrested on January 15 and got detained at Kondele Police Station.

The accused person however pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on a bond of Ksh300,000.

"I, therefore, release you on a bond of Ksh300,000," the magistrate ruled.

While in court, a lawyer who represented the accused person asked the court to release him on favourable bond terms.

"My honour, I'm appealing that you be lenient with my client and grant him a favourable bond term with an alternative cash bail," she said.

The case will be mentioned on February 1.
