A man on Sunday, December 19, hacked his wife and two children in Gesoni village within Mosocho in Kisii County before he surrendered himself to the police.

Daniel Asiago who is known to have domestic fights and issues with his wife committed the heinous act and surrendered to Nyatieko police station within Kisii township.

Immediately after leaving his family members for dead, agitated villagers torched his two-roomed semi-permanent house as police watched from a distance.

The three; his wife and the children who sustained serious injuries, were rushed to Kisii Level 6 Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

According to Simba Vincent, who is a local, this is not the first time the two have been involved in fights.

“We as the neighbours were forced to intervene and stop the man from hacking his wife. It is something we have been witnessing frequently but we never knew it would turn into something of this sort,” Simba said.

Another local Albert Ombui said that he was on his way home when he heard people screaming and he decided to find out what had happened.

He said that when he arrived at the scene of crime, he found angry neighbours torching the house while baying for the suspect's blood.

“The victim fled into Nyatieko Police station to save his life after angry neighbours launched a search for him,” Ombui said.

Kisii County Police Commander Francis Kooli said that already the suspect was being grilled by sleuths attached to Nyatieko police station.

“He is in custody and police are currently interrogating him. We also ask members of the public not to take actions into their own hands,” Kooli said.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, December 20.
