A middle-aged man has presented himself at Kianyaga Police Station in Kirinyaga County demanding to be arrested and locked for six months after he killed his wife and children.

The man identified as Paul Murange Njuki,35, confessed of wiping out his entire family of five using an ax.

He axed his wife Millicent Muthomi, 38, and their four children; two daughters and two sons, aged between 1 and 13 years.

Before killing his eldest daughter, Njuki defiled her and later hid the killer ax along the river banks in his neighborhood.

At the police station, he also confessed of peddling bhang.

According to the residents in Kathata, Kirinyaga county, where he hails from, the man differed with his wife over lack of onion in the evening delicacy.

The man wanted onions in food, but the wife insisted she did not have them.

Police Commander Kianyaga Police station, Anthony Mbugua has confirmed this incident to K24 Digital.

“He hit them with a blunt object before cutting them. He led us to where he said he hid the axe but we did not find it because of the heavy rains. We are still doing more investigations,” Mbugua said.

He also confirmed that the bodies will later be moved to Kerugoya Hospital Mortuary for postmortem as their vehicles had all stuck due to rains.

“All our vehicles are stuck but we are looking for ways to ensure the bodies are moved from the crime scene to the county referral mortuary,” he added.

He says Njuki did not give clearer reasons as to why he murdered his family.
