A Kirinyaga man from Kianjege village in Kirinyaga Central Sub County has been arrested in relation to the brutal murder of a 27-year-old woman. The murder reportedly happened on Tuesday October 12.

While confirming the unfortunate incident, Kirinyaga Central Sub County Deputy County Commissioner, Daniel Ndege, said that the man, identified as Kennedy Chomba, is in custody assisting the police with investigations on the murder .

"The suspect is in custody and he is assisting our officers with investigations," he said.

Ndege said that the suspect has been on on and off relationships with various women, stating that the incident occurred when he was trying to kick out his 27-year-old lover, identified as Edith Muthoni, from his house.

Muthoni was rushed to Kerugoya Level 4 hospital following the incident where she succumbed to the injury inflicted at the back of her head.

According to the police boss, a heated argument ensued when the man 'threw' a panga towards the lady, inflicting on her serious injuries.

"We learnt about the incident at around 8:00 pm on Tuesday night," he said.

Ndege has advised spouses to find better ways of solving their differences instead of resorting to violence.

"A person's life is very important and should not be played with. The man will go to jail but I hope he will serve as a lesson to other people in relationships," he said
