United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Vice Chairman Kipruto Arap Kirwa has resigned from William Ruto's party and joined Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance.

Kirwa was unveiled by Raila's running mate Martha Karua at a political rally in Sirisia, Bungoma County.

"I realised there was no democracy in UDA and from today, I've resigned as the party's vice chair and I'll support Raila for the presidency," he said.

Kirwa said he was going to give his one vote to Raila to ensure he gets 50%+1 of the votes that will be cast on August 9 to win the presidency.

While welcoming him, Karua said Kirwa is a hardworking leader who demonstrated his commitment to change Kenya when he was the minister of Agriculture during Mwai Kibaki's government.

"When you Kirwa, with me and Raila Odinga, just know that we are hardworking people and we've demonstrated when we held leadership positions," she said.

Karua added: "Raila participated in building roads in this country. When you see high-flying roads in Kenyan towns, just know they are the products of Engineer Raila Amolo Odinga."
