Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa shoots dead opponent’s aide – police

Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa has been accused of killing his opponent's aide.

Barasa is said to have shot Brian Khaemba's aide Brian Olunga in the forehead where he bled to death.

The matter was reported at Kimilili Police Station where Khaemba recorded a statement.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Khaemba is said to have argued with Barasa at Chebukwabi polling station where he (Khaemba) had gone to witness vote counting.

"Upon entering the said polling station, he met Hon. Didmus Barasa the incumbent MP for Kimilili constituency.

"After about three minutes, Mr. Brian Khaemba decided to leave the station and headed to his car where Hon. Didmus Barasa followed him in the company of four men and ordered them not to allow him (Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave the place but Mr Khaemba's driver Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle," the report read in part.

Kimilili MP opens fire

A commotion ensued and Barasa is said to have opened fire, shooting Olunga in the forehead.

"Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba's aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where profusely bled.

"He was rushed to Kimilili sub-county hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Body lying at the hospital," the police report added.
