President Uhuru Kenyatta, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have arrived in Parliament to lead the nation in viewing the body of the late former President Mwai Kibaki.

The president was received by his deputy at the parliament.

Kibaki's body arrived at Parliament buildings aboard a military gun carriage minutes before 9: 00 am on Monday.

The viewing of Kibaki's body is expected to unite the President and his deputy, who are now rarely seen together in public due to the prevailing political situation in the country.

The President is supporting Opposition leader Raila Odinga for the presidency in the August 9 presidential election while his deputy is running a parallel campaign for the same seat.

Kibaki served as Kenya's President between 2002 and 2013

He died on the morning of Friday, April 22, 2022, aged 90 years.
