Kenyan woman dies after being hit by speeding car in America

A Kenyan who lives in the US died after she was hit by a speeding car in Maryland.

K24 Digital has established that Hellen Kemunto Jorgensen was hit and killed by a vehicle as she crossed an intersection of Ager Road and Hamilton Street in West Hyattsville, Maryland.

Kemunto who until her death worked as a Home Health Aide hail from Kisii County and does not have any relatives in the US.

Currently, her three children identified as Jackie, Dennis and Aksel who live in Denmark are seeking financial support to help them transport the body of their mother to Kenya for burial.

Details on Go Fund Me a page that was started in order to raise funds for the funeral expenses reveal that she had already shared to her family that she was planning to move back to Kenya and spend the rest of her life.

“It was always her wish to relocate back to Kenya and spend the rest of her life in Meru. We shall ensure that we make her wish come true as she had really wanted to do,” the details read in part.

“Our mother was the heaviest mountain of love and care that I have ever had. I will miss her dearly and I thank you God for every day you gave me with her,” it further read.

The money that will be raised according to her children will be used to cater for international ship out price and funeral services, repatriation airfare and services, funeral services in Kenya, Airfare for Aksel to Kenya and back to Denmark.

They will also use the money in funeral service in Kenya from Nairobi to Mweru where she will be laid to rest.

Her death comes just days after another Kenyan based in the US died after she was involved in a grisly road accident.

Leah Wangari Gatonye Dubs who was the founder of Kilimani Mums Uncensored died on Saturday, August 15 following the accident that took place in South Carolina.
