Malcolm Bidali who was nabbed by Qatar authority is accused of receiving a bribe in order to shed Qatar in bad light.


In a statement by Migrant Rights which is a body that fights for the rights of immigrants in Qatar said that in as much as he had been released charges against him still remain.


“Malcolm Bidali has been released from custody but the charges against him remain. Until his release earlier this week, he had received no legal counsel.

"The charges against him aim only to silence him aim only to silence him and all charges concerning his activism must be dropped,” Migrant Rights said.


It further revealed that until Thursday he had received no legal counsel, adding that the charges against him aim only to silence a strong voice that has been drawing attention to the human rights abuses of migrants in the country.


The 28-year-old who works at GSS Certi International was blogging under a pseudo name Noah Bidali highlighted issues around poor working conditions.


He also highlighted issues of long working hours and poor accommodation.
It remains unclear whether he will manage to leave Qatar with the offence.
