Kenya Power has issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled power blackout on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
In a statement, the utility firm said the power outage affecting nine counties is part of routine maintenance and will run from morning to evening between six to eight hours.
"The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions today September 28, 2023). The interruption is part of network maintenance. For the advance notice, use http://bit.ly/31u4jY4. To access the latest schedule, check under the most recent date," Kenya Power wrote.
The nine affected counties include; Nairobi, Kiambu, Isiolo, Embu, Kilifi, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Migori and Kisumu counties.
Kenya Power said a power outage in some parts of Nairobi will run for eight hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
These include the Muthaiga area, Saika, Umoja 3, Kangundo Road, Wilson Airport and Lang'ata Road areas.
In a statement, Kenya Power said both Kiambu County and the whole of Isiolo town will also experience an eight-hour power outage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In Kiambu, the affected areas include; Red Hill Villas, Kigwa Farm and Fourways area.
In Embu County's Gatondo and Muchonoke areas the blackout will be experienced for eight hours.
Kilifi County's areas of Kokotoni and Jimba will also experience an eight-hour power outage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Power shutdown in Kapenguria and Maili Saba in Trans Nzoia and West Pokot counties will last 6 hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The same applies to Kisumu County's Ujenzi Quarry area as well as Mabera and Kramu areas in Migori County.
