A member of Kenya’s Embassy Consular team in the United States is dead.
K24 Digital has established that Andrew Onyuna Ochieng who has been offering diplomatic advice to Kenyan citizens on matters US died on Saturday.
He died while in Gaithersburg, Maryland in the US.
In a statement, the Embassy said that he died peacefully in his sleep.
“The Embassy regrets to announce the passing away of Mr Andrew Onyuna Ochieng on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Mr Onyuna was a member of the Embassy’s Consular team. He was a dedicated, hardworking and dependable team player,” the statement read in part.
It further said that an update on his burial arrangement will be communicated later but plans were already in place to have the body brought to Kenya.
The deceased has been living in the US for decades. Most of US residents who hail from Kenya have also mourned the death of Onyuna.
