The Kenya National Highways Authority has now reopened the Ortum section on the Kitale-Lodwar Road in West Pokot that had been cut off by rains.

KeNHA said it has completed the reconstruction of the box culvert and that the road section is now complete and ready for use by the public.

Heavy rains recently pounded West Pokot, Elgeyo-Marakwet and Baringo counties causing massive flooding and widespread destruction of property and infrastructure.

Several people died in the floods and mudslides with hundreds more left homeless.
