The mother of the Late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, Angeline Ajwang, and the MP’s wife, Monica, have moved to court seeking to quash a directive made on Thursday stopping the burial of the late legislator from proceeding.

Ajwang and Monica say “there is no dispute” surrounding the interment plan of the Late Okoth.

The two, through their lawyer Edwin Sifuna, argue that Anne Muthoni Thumbi, the woman who moved to court on Thursday to stop Okoth’s interment plan, did not object plans to have him laid to rest on Saturday, August 3.

Thumbi, also known as Anita, claims to have a child with Ken Okoth.

Thumbi, a former Sonko Rescue Team employee, who is currently a nominated MCA in Nairobi, moved to court on Thursday to request for an injunction stopping Okoth’s funeral plans, until

Ajwang and Monica recognise her 3-year-old son as a scion of the late MP.

Thumbi wants her son listed as one of the beneficiaries of Ken Okoth’s property.

Certified as urgent, the court directed that Ken Okoth’s interment plans set for Saturday be stopped until the case is heard and determined.

The case will be heard on August 9.
