One of the students undertaking the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) examinations gave birth to twins in the wake of the eighth day of the national exams.

The girl was admitted to Nandi hills County hospital after developing some complications and was forced to deliver the twins through caesarean section.

The student who hails from one of the secondary schools in Nandi East will now continue writing her national exams in the hospital.

One of the relatives who sought anonymity said the student needs close attention now that she gave birth to twins during her exam period.

"She has delivered safely but we are requesting the ministry of education to give her close attention so that she does not miss tomorrow's paper since she went through C-section," he said.

Earlier, Leonard Mgute, the Nandi East Deputy county commissioner stated that students who have delivered during the exam period will be allowed to continue with their exams from hospitals.

"We normally send a supervisor accompanied by a female security personnel to take examination papers to students who have delivered to enable them to continue with their examination from the hospitals," Mgute stated.

The Commissioner, however, raised alarm over the increased number of pupils getting pregnant while still in school and warned that serious action will be taken against those involved.
