Kariobangi: Man Loses Ksh100K, mobile phone worth Ksh40K during robbery

Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who robbed a man of Ksh100,000 and his mobile phone worth Ksh40,000 in the Korogocho market after they kidnapped him in Kariobangi.

Boniface Wainaina who works as a stage clerk at the Kariobangi roundabout was waiting to board a Matatu to go to Kayole when he was approached by two men who handcuffed him and took him to a vehicle parked alongside the road.

Driven from Kariobangi to Korogocho

The thugs then drove the vehicle to Korogocho market where they alighted and robbed the victim of the cash and mobile phone before assaulting him.

"While at the stage waiting to board for a Matatu to Kayole, Wainaina was stopped by two men who handcuffed and took him to a vehicle that was parked alongside the road. They then drove to Korogocho market where they alighted and robbed him of Ksh100,000 and a mobile phone worth Ksh40, 000 and assaulted him,” the police report read in part.

He was taken to the hospital by his employer after informing them.

In another incident, a young man in Njiru is nursing injuries after he was confronted and shot by a gang of five armed men while heading home from a political rally held at Calvary grounds.

The 22-year-old David Oditi was shot on the left shoulder after he was ordered to lie down.

“While heading home from a political rally at Calvary grounds, he was ordered to lie down and one of the men shot him on the left shoulder,” the police report stated.

The gang did not rob him of anything.

Oditi was escorted to the police station by a Good Samaritan before being rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where he is in stable condition.
