Kangemi mason who had been contracted to build a house by a landlord has been charged for damaging doors and windows of a tenant who questioned his motive when he went to the construction site late in the night.

The mason, identified as Collince Masitsa, who is accused of causing malicious damages pleaded not guilty when the charge against him was being read out in court.

“Collince Masitsa, on October 24, at Kangemi Location in Dagoreti Sub-County willfully and unlawfully damaged metallic door, two iron sheets, two glass windows all worth Ksh50,000 the property of Agness Njoki,” reads the charged sheet in part.

It is stated that Njoki had asked Masitsa to help other masons build the houses within the plot. He is said to have agreed to and he joined the rest. He reported to work in the morning then left in the evening but on the stated day, Masitsa left the site only for him to go back during odd hours.

At the construction site, there were already completed houses with some of the tenants already staying in them. Unfortunately, he was allegedly spotted by one of the tenants surveying the area.

The tenant got suspicious of him and ask why he had gone to the site in the evening yet there was no construction going on at that moment.

He is said to have kept quiet and shortly afterwards called one of his friends to the site and they started throwing stones towards the house of the tenant who had questioned his intention at the site.

An alarm was raised and the tenants within the plot restrained him before police arrived and handcuffed him and escorted him to the police station where he was booked.

He was later presented in court after police noted that he had a case to answer. He was granted a bond of ksh50,000 pending mention on November 10.
