Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is out of the country for peace talks in Juba, South Sudan.

Kalonzo, who doubles up as Kenya's Special envoy to South Sudan, revealed that the talks will be centred around the unification of the military.

He was received by South Sudan's Foreign Affairs minister Deng Dau Melik and Kenyan Ambassador Maj. Gen (Rtd) Samuel Nandwa.

"I'm grateful for the warm reception in S. Sudan upon our arrival in Juba earlier today. Our primary engagement will be in the ongoing peace process most notably, the unification of the military," he wrote on Twitter.

Kalonzo left Kenya for Juba after attending Azimio's running mate interview

His visit comes a few hours after appearing before the Azimio One Kenya Alliance running mate selection panel ahead of today's midnight deadline at the Nairobi Serena hotel after making a u-turn from his previous stance.

Initially, he had turned down the offer maintaining that he should not be subjected to the interviews owing to his seniority in politics and his royalty to Raila in the last two elections.

Speaking after the vetting process chaired by former Cabinet Minister Noah Wekesa, Kalonzo defended his quick change of mind saying he is confident of positive outcomes.
