A 65-year-old man from Sikuvale Village in Navakholo Constituency in Kakamega County has been arrested for allegedly killing his 56-year-old wife.

The suspect, Elphas Munyanda, returned home Monday night while, allegedly, drunk and started beating up his wife, Elizabeth Naswa, claiming that his spouse had confiscated his phone because she was suspecting he was cheating on her.

Munyanda is alleged to have beaten up his partner to death. The two, neighbours say, were often embroiled in marital disputes, with cheating allegations topping the causes of their regular conflicts.

Village Elder, Boniface Monde Namwacha, told K24 Digital that the victim succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

Police, who arrived at the scene Monday night, took the deceased to Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue and arrested the suspect, who is being held at Navakholo Police Station.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, police say.
