The helicopter that was meant to transport Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe on Monday failed to take off after developing mechanical problems.

As a result of the mechanical failure, the Health CS and his team were forced to travel by road to Nairobi.

The Health ministry officials were in Kericho to assess the county's level of preparedness to the coronavirus pandemic.

CS Kagwe issued his daily coronavirus briefing in the county.

According to a report published by Nation.co.ke, the Health officials disembarked from the aircraft as the pilot fumbled with gears.

Among those who accompanied the CS on his county tour were Health Services acting Director-General Patrick Amoth, Nursing Council of Kenya boss Edna Talam and Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee Director Osman Warfa.
