The curtains have been drawn and daggers raised as Jubilee MPs fight over Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Aden Duale who is this morning staring at the sack.

Less than three days after President Uhuru Kenyatta gave the Garissa Township MP a lease of life during the Jubilee Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting at State House, a parallel list of MPs who are for and against him has emerged online.

According to the list, more than 90 MPs — the majority of them belonging to Tanga Tanga wing — have signed to protect the beleaguered legislator, while 40 others aligned to Kieleweke want him removed.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega is pushing for the removal of Duale on the grounds that he has failed party loyalty and commitment test.

The Kieni MP has in his corner Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny, Alfred Keter (Nandi), and Shwarap Misra (Kesses), among others.

According to the list which has not been independently verified, Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi (Kuresoi North) and other allies of DP Ruto such as David Gikaria (Nakuru East), Kuria Kimani (Molo) and Ben Shinali (Ikolomani) support the ouster bid.

The pro-Duale camp is comprised of Deputy President William Ruto's allies such as Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Ndindi Nyoro (Kinsey) and Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu).

Mr. Kega told People Daily that he had collected over 100 signatures by Wednesday evening, adding that he will present the list to the Jubilee Party for action on Thursday.

Jubilee commands the majority in parliament boasting of 167 elected MPs but recent political events have split them down the middle.

The purge targeting DP Ruto's allies has raised a political storm in the country.
