A Tuesday, September 14 move by the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) seeking to have Joseph Irungu alias Jowie remanded for violating bail conditions exposes the double life he has been leading since he was released on a ksh2 million bail in March 2020.
Jowie who is the main suspect in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani had in August 2020 released a gospel song dubbed Nishikilie and he said that he had changed his life for the better since he had met God.
He released the song just five months after he was released from Kamiti Maximum Prison in Kiambu County with the support of his then-girlfriend Eleanor Musangi alias Ella. She was also his personal manager.

However, according to Chief Inspector Maxwel Otieno, the security expert assaulted a civilian identified as Rodgers Okuta at club 1824 located in Lang’ata within Nairobi County early this year (March 2021).
“Jowie assaulted Rodgers Okuta but even though the complaint was withdrawn, it is quite clear that he has proceeded to commit a similar offence or crime resulting in bodily injury of another person while out on bail,” Chief Inspector Maxwel Otieno said in a sworn affidavit.
If the argument by Otieno is anything to go by, then it remains clear that Jowie had been leading double life even as his fans kept on enjoying his gospel music on his YouTube channel.
In August 2020, just five months after he was released from prison, Jowie delved into gospel music and released a song.
An Instagram post on his official page also revealed that he had found God and that he was ready to spread the gospel through music.
He asked his fans on his YouTube channel to receive him with lots of love.
Four months after releasing the song, Jowie then parted ways with his girlfriend Ella despite making their relationship public.
However, this did not just end without some drama especially after Ella, a mother of one came out boldly to claim that she was never married to Jowie as they had been making it look like through their social media pages.
She said that she only met the musician through divine intervention but they had never married at any point in life.
Ella further claimed that Jowie was not the father of her daughter and that they had just made up the lies in order to have him released from prison.
On Tuesday, September 14, it emerged that Jowie risks returning to remand prison if the court cancels his bond.
This is after DPP Noordin Haji in June filed an application to have his bond cancelled with an argument that he had violated the conditions which were issued by Justice James Wakiaga when he was released on bond.
Otieno also said that Jowie had violated court orders that barred him from commenting or posting anything in regard to the murder case after he gave two interviews on YouTube channels.
When he was being released, Justice Wakiaga also ordered that Jowie should make a monthly report to the area chief in Nakuru where his parents stay which also has never happened after he was set free.
He had been asked to stay with his parents in Ngata Estate within Nakuru County but he instead lives in Nairobi and works at a private security firm in the city.
The prosecution also argued that he was living in Lang’ata Estate which is also the secondary crime scene and where other witnesses reside.
This according to Otieno was putting the lives of the witnesses at risk.
