Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho says ODM leader Raila Odinga is responding well to treatment after undergoing a surgical procedure at a hospital in the United Arab Emirates.

Odinga underwent the surgical operation early this week at the Saudi German Hospital Dubai.

According to Odinga’s elder brother, Oburu Oginga, who is also the Odingas spokesperson, the former prime minister had flown to the Middle East country for a “minor back surgery”.

And now Governor Joho, a staunch ODM member, says “Raila Odinga will return to Kenya soon”.

“I feel happy and encouraged that his health condition is improving. The fraternity of ODM continues to pray for our leader. I am hopeful that Baba (Raila Odinga) will be back in Kenya soon. We’ll continue praying for him,” said Joho in a video-taped address.

“Let us not forget that our leaders are also human beings. Sometimes, they have to be tested, sometimes they have to be sick and get treated, and sometimes they have to deal with issues that every human being is exposed to.

“I want to tell our supporters that our leader is well. Soon, he shall land back in Kenya and continue with the journey of ensuring we achieve the agenda of uniting Kenyans,” said Joho.
