United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, linked to Deputy President William Ruto, on Saturday conducted its nomination exercise for Muguga Ward by-elections in Kabete, Kiambu County.

Seven aspirants who want the party's ticket took part in the nomination exercise.

IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati gazetted a list of the seven aspirants seeking UDA ticket on Tuesday.

They include James Kinyati, Boniface Muhoro, James Njoroge, Alice Wangui, Peter Kamau, Paul Karari and Colnerious Macharia.

The primaries were conducted in seven polling stations in the ward.

Hundreds of people turned up for the primaries as long queues were witnessed across the seven polling stations.

The Jubilee primaries will be held on May 22.

Chebukati also gazetted 10 aspirants seeking the Jubilee party ticket for the by-elections.

The 10 include Joyce Wanja, Francis Mahiga, Francis Waithaka, Joseph Githinji, Jacob Mungai, James Mwaura, Joseph Gacheru, Francis Njuguna, Wilfred Thuku and Andrew Muragami.

The two primaries come few weeks to the by-election that will enable Muguga Ward residents to elect their new MCA following the death of the former officeholder Eliud Ngugi in March.

Ngugi succumbed to Covid-19.

The by-election is slated for July 15.
