The Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has postponed his weekly engagement with Kenyans which happens every Monday through his Social Media page.

In a statement shared on his official Twitter handle, Mutyambai apologized for the postponement stating that he had urgent national matters that needed his immediate intention.

“Due to national engagement, #EngageTheIG has been postponed to a later date,” Mutyambai said on Monday, December 6.

Through #EngageTheIG, Mutyambai has been able to listen to and solve a myriad of problems brought to his attention by Kenyans.

“There has been a clamor by the public to have a closer and keener engagement with @NPSOfficial_KE. I have taken note of that and will be dedicating an hour every alternate Monday to engage with you personally on a live Twitter chat #EngageTheIG,” Mutyambai said in June 2020.

In November, the IG responded to a Twitter user who shared photos of a man reportedly harassed by police officers from Mosoriot for being outside at 10 pm.

“This person was assaulted by police officers from Mosoriot for being outside at 10 pm... I thought yhe curfew ended? What action are you going to take against the officers from Mosoriot police station on Nandi? #EngageTheIG ,” the user identified as Kipkosgei said.

In his response, the IG promised to address the matter asking Kipkosgei to share more details on the same with him.

“This is regrettable and unlawful. I will follow up on this matter with the relevant command. Kindly DM more details,” the IG said.
