Japhet Dibo, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officer who reportedly went missing has been found alive and well.

Dibo, who had been contracted as an Information and Technology (IT) expert was reported to have gone missing on August 18, 2022, a day before the case was reported at Kilimani Police Station.

Speaking to a local publication, Dibo's wife Flora Aluoch confirmed he is okay and all was well.

“We are okay and he (Dibo) is at home. There is nothing to worry about,” she said.

According to his lawyer Trevor Lichuma, Dibo had been taken forcefully by unknown people on Thursday, August 18 before being let go on Friday at 2:00 pm. He says they acted out of worry.

"Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives are investigating the matter and we hope they will get to the bottom of it all," the lawyer stated.

The matter caught public attention after Aluoch claimed that her husband had left his office at KISM Towers in Nairobi in the company of an unknown man and never returned home.

At the time, she said he was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and a navy blue pair of trousers.
