Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati has said that he is ready to work with Ezra Chiloba in his new role, despite falling out years ago.

This comes just a day after Chiloba was appointed to the helm of the Communications Authority of Kenya, CAK.

Chiloba will play a key role in the next General elections, as he will be tasked to ensure that all polling stations are fitted with 3G and 4G networks.

Speaking on Friday afternoon, Chebukati said that he was surprised when he learned through the media that Chiloba had been appointed as Director- General of the agency and had the blessings of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Chebukati has in the recent past been crying foul saying that IEBC was in need of financial support said that he was willing to work with Chiloba in order to ensure that the 2022 general elections is a success.

“It is clear that the circumstances under which he left IEBC are in the public domain and as a commission. All I can do for now is wish him well in his new assignment,” Chebukati said.

Prior to his appointment, Chiloba has been in the cold. This is after he was suspended by Chebukati in mid-2020 over procurement issues.

His suspension led to a court case, in which Chiloba lost and opted not to go on with the matter.

This even saw him take a break from the repeat of presidential elections, which were held in October 2017.

Opposition leaders led by Orange Democratic Movement ODM leaders were on the forefront, asking him to hang his boots from the helm of the Electoral agency.

This is after Supreme Court nullified the August 4, 2017, and the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto.
