Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has called out his enemies for spreading malicious information on social media indicating that he is dead.

Taking to his social media handles to speak on the fake reports, the governor stated that he is alive and in good health.

He faulted his opponents for orchestrating the narrative and urged members of the public to ignore the reports.

"But who can be against us if God is with us? The rumour on Twitter announcing my passing on is the evil genius of desperate opponents. It should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves," he said.

"I am sitting on my balcony in Kisumu having had lunch with my family this beautiful Saturday afternoon," the governor added.

Nyong'o says many who are against his development record in the county have pressed the panic button to the extent of wishing him death.

"There are disgruntled souls dead set to derail the speedy economic growth in Kisumu who would wish I were dead as early as yesterday," he stated.

The governor, who is serving his first term in office, has launched several projects in his county including the construction of the Jomo Kenyatta stadium.

The new stadia will host the Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1.

On Thursday, Nyong'o hosted officials from Keda Ceramics Kenya Ltd, which is building a tiles-making factory at Miwani in Kisumu County.

The Ksh16 billion factory will directly employ 2,500 residents and it is expected to benefit residents through corporate social responsibility.
