How to check KCPE 2022 exam results

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has officially released the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.

At least 1.2 million pupils sat for the exam in over 28,000 exam centres, after which over 7,000 examiners were involved in the marking exercise, complemented by optical recognition machines.

The exams entailed five subjects, English, Mathematics, Kiswahili, Science and Social Studies with addition of Composition and Insha for English and Kiswahili

To check for the results, parents or guardians can send an SMS to 20076 with the student’s index number, using any mobile network provider in the country.

How you can check KCPE 2022 results by SMS

  • Open a blank text message on whatever SIM card you are using
  • Type your full 11 digits KCPE number followed by the word KCPE, for example 50167345023KCPE. Do not leave spaces in the index number and the word KCPE.
  • Send to the KNEC SMS number 20076
  • You will receive a text message from KNEC with your results after a short while. The SMS will cost Ksh25 per message sent.

"KCPE results will be out soon! Once formally announced by Ministry of Education, get candidate results by sending index number to code 20076 @ Kshs 25 per SMS," Safaricom said in a message to its subscribers.

The results will also be available on the KNEC website.

How to download KCPE 2022 result slips from the KNEC Portal

  • Visit the Official KNEC website:  https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/
  • Check  for the KCPE Results tab, click on it
  • Select the year you sat for the Exams
  • Enter your Index number.
  • Click the Submit button.
  • Your KCPE results should show on the screen after a while.

The system would be accessible at the end of the official release of the results.

The results will be also available in schools where the candidates registered for their exams. Candidates or their candidates can collect the results from the schools, hours after the results are officially released.
