Police officers in Mombasa on Thursday arrested nine people suspected to be members of a car theft syndicate that has been terrorizing Mombasa County residents.

The suspects were seized in an early morning raid by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Nyali.

Police said they tracked the suspects to a house at Furaha Apartments in the posh Nyali neighbourhood.

At the premises, police said they found several rolls of bhang, shisha pots, a packet of shisha, Sh100,000 in Sh1,000 denominations and several mobile phones.

The suspects were put in police custody pending further investigations and arraignment in court.
