It was an interesting Thursday morning for police officers manning a roadblock at the Eveready Junction on the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

The officers reportedly flagged down a sport utility vehicle after receiving information that the occupants of the vehicle were armed and dangerous.

But the driver refused to stop leading to a high-speed chase that ended about 5km from the Eveready Junction as boda boda riders gave police back up.

Beaten and with one of their tyres deflated by an officer, the car occupants whipped out identity cards showing they were security personnel for Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga.

The ‘lawless’ occupants claimed they were head to Nairobi to attend an event.

Immediately, the boda boda riders started singing "Baba Baba” as the police officers who gave chase looked for a portable car tyre inflator.

By the time of publishing, K24 Digital had not yet confirmed from senior police officers if the occupants were indeed VIP bodyguards.
