The High Court has on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, issued a warrant of arrest against the Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti.

In a letter addressed to the Inspector of the National Police Service, the Deputy Registrar of the High Court ordered the police boss to apprehend Kinoti and avail him before the court to answer to charges preferred against him.

"You are hereby commanded forthwith to apprehend the said Mr. George Maingi Kinoti and to bring him before this Court to answer to the said charge and to be further dealt with according to law," the letter read in part.

The DCI boss was in November sentenced to four months in prison after being found guilty of contempt of court. Kinoti had disregarded the court's order, compelling him to return firearms that had been confiscated from businessman and ODM presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi.

The presiding judge during the sentencing, Justice Anthony Mrima, gave prison authorities a 7-day window to commence Kinoti's sentence.

The DCI boss is yet to present himself at the Kamiti Maximum Prisons, where he was designated to serve his jail term.
