The much-awaited President Uhuru Kenyatta's event at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri where he is expected to address the Mt Kenya region is finally here.

With the great expectation from the President's address, several residents and leaders from the region have turned out for the event.

According to reports, delegates and grassroots leaders from the region started making their way to the State Lodge as early as 11:00 pm on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning - the day of the event - there was heavy traffic witnessed on several roads leading to Sagana State Lodge due to the large number of people attending and heavy security scrutiny that was done on those attending the event.

The heavy traffic forced some motorists to abandon their vehicles and walk for over five kilometres to the event.

Some of those people who were caught up in the traffic claimed they were not allowed to attend the event without invitation cards.

President Uhuru is expected to give a political direction to his backyard ahead of the August election.
