Police in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania have launched a hunt for a middle-aged woman who beat up and injured her love rival early this week.

Videos of Vena Mushi, a mother-of-three, being beaten up by her aggressor, went viral on Facebook, with users calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the assault suspect.

In the 4-minute-and-37-second video clip, Vena is seen subdued by her attacker, who pins her against the ground and embarks on an interrogation and slapping spree.

From the conversations in the video, Vena, a resident of Msaranga in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, was invited by her lover to his place. She did not know the man was married. Upon her arrival at her lover’s estate in Kilimanjaro, the two went out for a dinner date, and later her lover invited her to his house for the night, where they were caught by the man’s wife.

Vena, in the video clip, is heard explaining how she met the married man.

“I often chatted with him on phone after meeting him on social media. He told me that he was a divorced father-of-two, and wanted me to be his lover. On Sunday, he invited me over. My rural home is Mwanza, but I currently reside in Moshi,” said the mother-of-three.

Her assaulter then asks: “When did you get into a relationship with my husband, and don’t lie to me because if you do, I will smash a glass bottle on your head as people watch. When did you start your prostitution?”

Vena responds: “We started our love affair recently, it has not lasted long. When a man approaches you, and seeks your love, saying he isn’t married, what will you do? I am not a prostitute, please.”

Vena’s attacker, thereafter, slaps and punches her in the face, despite Vena exhibiting facial injuries already.

“Forgive me,” Vena pleads as her aggressor metes out brutality on her.

“Now you’ve known and believed that I am his wife, right? Kneel down and apologise! I am embarrassed by my husband’s choice of paramours! A mother of three; is this even a woman to sleep with?” Vena’s attacker is heard saying.

Police say they have since taken up the matter, and that Vena’s aggressor will be arrested and arraigned.

Meanwhile, the victim is receiving treatment at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre.

Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner Anna Elisha Mghwira said on Twitter that Vena was critically injured and is under intensive care.

“I believe justice for Vena will be gotten,” said Mghwira.

Vena Mushi has since told police that her aggressor took her Tsh900, 000 (Ksh41, 800) when she caught her with her (attacker’s) husband. The victim said she and her lover had agreed to inject the money into a business they would co-own.
