The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has evacuated a Kenyan citizen who was allegedly attacked in Albania.

A chartered plane carrying Joyce Aoko and her mother Ruth Aoko touched down at Wilson Airport on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

"I got information that my child had been attacked and she had been admitted to ICU. I started following up with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and I was able to travel to Albania where I stayed with my daughter for two months in ICU.

"After she finished medicine, doctors refused to treat her. I really tried to beg them to treat my child but they refused," the mother said.

Diaspora Department Principal Secretary (PS) Rose Njogu organised for immediate evacuation of the patient.

"We worked with the Ministry of Health to ensure that Joyce has been evacuated. I want to also thank our Embassy in Albania for their effort. Every life of Kenyan in diaspora matters," the PS said.
