One of Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'os employees who was arrested for causing malicious damage to property during Deputy President William Ruto's campaign has been arraigned before a Kisumu court.

Wilson Ojuang Aminda appeared before Winam Law courts Senior Principal Magistrate Robert Wanda.

The court heard that on November 10, 2021 at Kondele roundabout within Kisumu Central Sub-county jointly with others not before the court, Aminda wilfully and unlawfully destroyed five vehicles which are the properties of the government of Kenya.

In count two, he was charged with creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a bridge of peace contrary to section 95 (1) (b) of the penal code.

The court heard that Aminda created disturbance by pelting stones at a crowd in a political rally and at Deputy President William Ruto's motorcade there by maliciously destroying a special land cruiser REG GKB263G, GKB741J and a Toyota Hilux.

He however pleaded not guilty to all the charges pressed against him.

The lawyer who represented him in court asked that they be supplied with a charge sheet, witnesses statement diary and any other statement that the investigation will rely on.

He pleaded with the court to release his client on a favourable cash bail arguing that he is innocent.

He also informed the court that the accused person is an employee of the Kisumu County government and that he is not a flight risk.

"Your honour, my client will also not interfere with the witnesses," the lawyer said.

On his side, the magistrate released Aminda on a bond of Ksh.500,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh100,000. The matter will be heard on February 7, 2021.
