Kiambu Deputy Governor Joyce Ngugi has termed the recent switch of allegiance by area woman representative Gathoni Wamuchomba from Kieleweke to Tanga Tanga as good riddance.

She said that the woman rep was a liability in Jubilee and that her quitting from it was long overdue.

Speaking in Muguga where she drummed up support for the Jubilee party candidate for the area ward by election Githinji Mung'ara, she said that Gathoni's move would leave no void in women representation in the county.

"We have 32 women leaders who are members of the Kiambu County Assembly and therefore we have lost nothing following her defection," she said.

"We are firmly in jubilee and more than loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the party leader,” She added.

Ngugi said that she would henceforth act as the area woman representative stating that Kiambu is solidly behind the President and his endeavors to unite the country.

"We support Uhuru as he brings the country together by building bridges among different communities in the country,” she said.

Early this week, Wamuchomba, formerly a sworn critic of the DP switched camp from Kieleweke to the Tanga tanga faction of Jubilee party which she used to attack while discrediting DP Ruto.

Contacted, she said that she's still in jubilee but had moved to the UDA ostensibly to be where her supporters have moved to.

"I have not left jubilee that took me to Parliament. What I have done is that I have switched allegiance to Ruto because that is where Kiambu people are," she said.

Gathoni boasts as the only woman rep in the whole country who garnered the most  number of votes during the during the 2017 polls  by managing close to 1 million votes.
