Gang robs family goods worth Ksh570k and Ksh49K in cash

Police in Kikuyu Kiambu County have launched a manhunt for a gang of five thugs who robbed a family of goods worth Ksh570,000 and Ksh49,000 in cash while armed with knives and crude weapons.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the five scaled the perimeter wall using a wooden ladder to gain entry into the victims' compound.

They gained entry into the house by forcing themselves through the aluminium glass door and found the family members sleeping in their bedroom.

The gang is reported to have threatened the family before stealing the valuables.

"A group of five thugs armed with knives crudely scaled the perimeter wall of Wilfred using a wooden ladder and broke into his by forcing the aluminium glass door where they found the family sleeping. They stole a 50-inch television, a home theatre, a laptop, tablet, four mobile phones, assorted clothing and shoes, jewellery, perfume, a 6 kg gas cylinder and beddings," the police report seen by K24 Digital reads in part.

The robbers then fled in an unknown direction with the family vehicle a Toyota RAV 4.

No one was injured during the incident.

Separately, a middle-aged man is nursing injuries at Nyahururu County Hospital after he was attacked at Rumuruti and his motorcycle stolen.

The victim identified as Philip Kiprotich was found by the police unconscious with two deep cuts on the head.

The victim's phone was found on the scene crashed.
